Presentation & Persuasion Skills

Presentations: "we have all done them, most of us hate them and very few of us can do them properly".

Presenting well is a skill that can be learned! The majority of all gifted speakers and presenters have had years of training and coaching in "performing".

We offer training for both individuals and corporate groups of up to 8 members. Our program is generally tailored to an 8 hour workshop broken up into 2 x 4 hour work sessions:

The first session is dedicated to doing PowerPoint presentations. We will use real samples provided by the client and train participants in effectively structuring, writing and presenting a PowerPoint presentation. We look at training participants in creating audience oriented content that is clear, concise and to the point. Here we will also go through the science behind presenting content, DOs and DONTs as well as using appropriate language.

However it is one thing to have perfect presentations or written outlines on paper and it is another to be able to deliver them. Therefore the second session is designed for participants to practice and optimise their presentation skills orally. The second session includes developing skills in:

1. Confidence Building – The initial dilemma in giving a presentation is feeling comfortable, confident and relaxed. Presenting is really a performance, therefore we include an element of drama teaching as well as moving participants “out of their comfort zones” by not using notes and presenting in obscure situations.

2. Persuasion through Body Language – A major area which is commonly ignored in a presentation or negotiation is body language. Here the theories of body language were explained and practiced including many small details such as posture (both seated and standing), hand gestures, voice projection and intonation.

3, Owning the content, owning the audience and owning the room – the final element is to practice the presentations in groups (if applicable) and also using video.
